A few words about Lance:
Our friend and colleague, Lance Carter, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2006 in the early hours of the morning. Lance was diagnosed with Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma. His wife, Lisa, started a blog to keep Lance's friends and family up to date on his progress. We lost a fabulous drummer and person, but his memory and talents live on and are enjoyed by the millions of listeners who hear him on the plethora of cds that have recorded his magic touch and rhythm.
Lance toured in Japan with Tunnels, and in the Eastern U.S. with Tunnels and Nuove Musiche. Touring means going to bed late and getting up early. Rounding up the band to get back on the road to the next venue was always a challenge, and we remember Lance saying "Saddle up!" to get everybody in the van. Time to put that seat belt on and hit the road.
We hold a glass high to you, Lance, thank you for your lively spirit that graced the Earth, and has left an indelible mark for generations to come- not only from your drumming but for the awareness you brought to this rare and terrible disease that will lead to better research and help for those who follow you.
Lance was treated at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, and here is a way to ensure Lance's memory lives on, by
donating to rare cancer research.
