Belmont University in Nashville is one of the rare schools that offer a commercial music curriculum. You would think that this would be an odd place for Tunnels to perform, but on the contrary it is a great opportunity to broaden the musical horizon of young students who are rarely exposed to alternative kinds of music. Judging by the kind of warm welcome we received, it was a very good idea, and we owe it all to Roy Vogt, head of the bass faculty here (who is also a formidable 7 string bass performer). Later that night we went on Main street and listened to some real down home country music, a real treat.

Comfortably sitting on the Kentucky blue grass, this is a direct phone call live to WCNB in Boston to promote the Harpers Ferry gig next Monday. We are pulling all the stops for this show, since Boston is a tough town, as there are so many musicians there. We hope that radio-flyers-posters & word of mouth will help creating a good showing. Last time we performed there, we opened for Porcupine Tree, to an enthusiastic sold out show at the Somerville Theater. |

Everyone has his own phoning style, Walker seems to favor the horizontal style. |

Percy likes to walk around. What would we do without this wireless technology, it changes many things, but doesn't really create any new creative opportunities. It does make me think about the fact that as music is concerned, the only evolution is in the technologies of distribution and access, like cell phones, PDAs, or Ipods, but not in the actual content. This creates an illusion of change. But culturally, it is a stand off- in the meantime we are following the oldest means of distribution, by bringing it directly to the audience, the most organic way possible. |

Louisville Kentucky is a town where we always feel welcome. The Jazz Factory is a new venue for us, and we had a very good night, with old friends and new listeners, all enthusiastic. |
 |
No, this is not Jerry Garcia's reincarnation, It is Mike Sari, the French TV bandleader who has been our host, and a very good one- he actually baked us an apple pie, that we just had for breakfast |

Of course there is no more guitar in Tunnels, but this guitar store is impossible to miss. This picture shows just a small part of this wall of guitars; I chose the Gibson section, but it could as well be the Fender one, they both are seminal in the creation of the sound of rock. |

This is the new Tunnels, long live Tunnels! |

Weather will always be a big part in our discussions, as I was explaining earlier, Percy is some kind of an authority on the subject. So when a picture perfect "super-cell" cloud formation appeared on our way to Indianapolis, Percy took out his storm detector and his short wave radio. But time is getting short due to a small confusion about a quite illogical mapping of the time zones, so we are an hour late to the club.

There was a small but very supportive crowd, in this club a more rock energy is emanating from the band, Walker is hitting the drums harder than I've heard before, even in the jazz ballad Green Eyes, that sounds finally the way I hear it. |

Tuffty and Roni posing with us, they really beleive in Tunnels and did gave us a home in the really cool club RadioRadio. They also own a clothing store in the other side of town, call Future Shock. These and all the other peoples that are supporting creative music are at the vanguard of the battle to keep the edge of the blade sharp and able to cut through the thick inertia that we can find all around us. |
